PRACTICE HISTORY
Dr Stephen Russell was
appointed as a single-handed general practitioner in March 1990. He then bought and
modified a house known as ‘The Gables’ and ‘The
Gables Medical Centre’ officially opened on 1st April 1990. The premises
have been renovated and extended since then with consultation and treatment rooms
on the ground floor and a health promotion room on the first floor, accessed by
stairlift for disabled patients. The practice resident accepts patients within a 10 mile
radius of the medical centre.
The practice list size has grown steadily
since 1990 and, in 1997, Dr Claire Simms joined the practice as a partner in order
to cope with the increasing workload. The practice now employs a practice manager,
three part-time receptionists and a practice nurse.
Currently
we are working harder than ever to ensure quality delivery of the General
Medical Services Contract to our patients. We remain committed to monitoring and
improving where possible the healthcare service we provide.
OPENING HOURS
The Gables Medical Centre
opens at 8.30am Monday to Friday and remains open until 6.00pm each day except
Wednesday, our half day (close 12 noon). The Gables Medical Centre operates an
appointments system. Patients should ring on the usual number 028 2565
3237 to make an appointment.
